STUDY VISA PROCESS

International students wishing to enrol in a programme in Canada must get a Study Permit. It must be for a designated learning institution (DLI), and the application fee is C$150.

Step 1: Become Familiar with the Requirements
To apply successfully to a Canadian educational institution, it is necessary to understand the various admission requirements for schools and the courses they provide.
Additionally, candidates must do an in-depth review of the rules and regulations governing the study permit application procedure. Only accredited colleges and permitted study durations will be considered useful. It is recommended that you begin arranging for your Canadian study visa at least a year in advance. All universities and institutes demand a current passport, competency in either English or French, proof of completing mandated language exams with minimum grades/bands, and proof of financial support for your studies and living expenses in the nation. Naturally, criteria differ by province, which is why this process must be carried out meticulously and methodically.

Step 2: Select a Course and an Institution
The initial step in selecting an institution is to confirm its designation as a Designated Learning Institution. Only DLIs have the authority to enrol international students. When applying to study in Canada, you will be needed to complete a certain main course. Although the Canadian academic system is receptive to course changes, it is prudent to assess your possibilities in advance and pick a major that you are genuinely passionate about.

Step 3: Take the Language Proficiency Test
To be admitted to Canada, all overseas students must demonstrate fluency in English or French. While IELTS is the ideal test for English competence, certain universities will also accept the Cambridge English: Advanced or TOEFL exam scores. For French, you can choose from the DALF, DELF, or TCF exams, however the TEF is the most popular.

Step 4: Submit Applications to Universities
Now is the time to contact the colleges on your shortlist, get their application packets, and submit them well in advance. While having the option of applying to a dozen institutions might be helpful, you must factor in the application price, which ranges between $100 and $250.
Do not submit applications at random. Comparing your possibilities, deciding on a favourite course and school, and selecting one or two backup options. Take care when filling out the application form and ensure that the information you offer is correct and backed up by verifiable evidence. Once this is completed, you must endure the agonising wait for approval. After you confirm your interest, the institution will give you an acceptance letter, which is critical for the further procedures.

Step 5: Submit an Application for a Study Permit
Now that you've been accepted to an institution, it's time to apply for a Canada Study Permit. You can apply online or in person at a visa application centre near you. Your application must be supported by the acceptance letter from the previous phase, your passport, and documentation evidence that you have the financial resources to study in Canada.
If you applied to a school in the province of Quebec, you will also receive a "Certificat d'acceptation du Québec" with your acceptance letter (CAQ). Ensure that you submit this document with your application for a study permit.
